HorizonsAcademy Horizons Academy, a program under Al Nayzak Organization, provides inquiry-based, constructivist, and learner-centered education programs to students. Following Al Nayzak’s educational philosophy, all instructors are expected to foster active learning, critical thinking, and real-world engagement using the BDA Instructional Model and technology-enhanced strategies. Horizons Academy is seeking to hire a pool of qualified instructors who can deliver the Critical Design and Thinking course. The course consists of 36 teaching hours that will be delivered either in-person or online, depending on Al Nayzak’s preferences. Instructors will be selected on an on-call basis according to availability at the time of each course. Critical Design Thinking Course The Critical Design Thinking (CDT) course aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the Design Thinking process, fostering skills in creative problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation. Students will learn to identify and address real-world challenges by applying the stages of Design Thinking—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—while developing passion projects Plans. Through hands-on activities, data analysis, prototyping, and entrepreneurial thinking, students will enhance their ability to iterate solutions, present ideas effectively, and make meaningful social, technological, or environmental impacts.
Objective To establish a roster of trained, qualified instructors who are available to deliver high-quality, student-centered Critical Design and Thinking courses that align with Al Nayzak’s methodologies and standards.
Scope of Work ● Deliver thirty-six-hour Critical Design and Thinking courses based on the program’s needs. ● Implement the Al-Nayzak Organization’s pedagogical model, focusing on: ○ Inquiry-based learning ○ Active engagement ○ Scaffolding of concepts ○ Continuous formative feedback
● Integrate interactive tools (such as Kahoot, Padlet, breakout rooms) and online platforms as part of instruction. ● Participate actively in Al Nayzak’s mandatory instructor training before commencing teaching assignments. ● Ensure student-centered learning environments that encourage exploration, collaboration, and reflection. ● Provide regular feedback and reports on students' progress. ● Be available primarily for courses scheduled after 3 or 4 PM local time.
Important Note: Being part of the instructor pool does not guarantee course assignment. Horizons Academy reserves the right to assign instructors based on availability, suitability, and program needs. Some instructors may be called upon more frequently than others, and some may not be assigned any course during a given academic year. |
Key Responsibilities • Review and familiarize yourself with the Critical and Design Thinking curriculum, lesson plans, activities, and resources provided by Horizons Academy. • Prepare each session by reviewing the learning objectives, activities, and expected student outcomes, and adapting materials as needed to suit students’ levels and learning needs. • Deliver engaging 2–3-hour sessions, online and/or in person, for up to 36 teaching hours per course. • Facilitate interactive, inclusive, and student-centered learning through hands-on projects, group discussions, inquiry-based exploration, and problem-solving activities. • Support students in developing critical digital skills and responsible approaches to emerging technologies. • Integrate real-world case studies, examples, and applications into course delivery. • Utilize educational technologies and digital learning tools to enhance student engagement and learning. • Build skills in entrepreneurship, presentation, storytelling, media, and public speaking. • Facilitate inquiry-based projects, group discussions, and design protocols. • Monitor student understanding and engagement and provide ongoing formative feedback. • Adapt instructional methods to accommodate diverse learner needs and levels of prior knowledge. • Track student attendance and progress and provide regular feedback and reports. • Maintain communication with course coordinators and academic supervisors regarding course delivery and student progress. • Use the Horizons Academy portal, LMS, and templates to access resources, track students’ attendance, and complete required reporting.
Required Qualifications ● Minimum Bachelor’s background in education, design or engineering. ● Problem-solving skills. ●Experience with student-led projects. ● Familiarity with constructivist and inquiry-based pedagogies is an advantage. ● Online or blended teaching experience preferred. ● Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is an asset.
Training Requirement ● Selected instructors must successfully complete 8 mandatory training hours conducted by Al Nayzak, covering: ○ The organization's vision, philosophy, and pedagogy. ○ Horizons Academy content and curricula. ○ Use of technology and digital platforms for course delivery ○ Course curriculum and resources for Critical and Design Thinking.
Availability ● Instructors must be available to work on an on-call basis, depending on course needs and scheduling. ● Courses are typically scheduled after 3 or 4 PM (2-3 hour sessions), and flexibility to accommodate different course periods is essential.
Reporting ● Instructors will report to the content coordinator and the Deputy Manager of Horizons Academy.
Contract Type ● On-call service contract with payments issued per course delivered based on agreed terms.
